Benefit Plans Compliance Officer

BenefitsAssist launched its COBRA Administration service in 1997.  Since 2004 it also offers administration of the following benefits: Flexible Spending Accounts (FSAs), Health Reimbursement Arrangements (HRAs), and Health Savings Accounts (HSAs).

We are hiring for an hourly PART-TIME (20-25 hours/week) Benefit Plans Compliance Officer position. Please do not apply if you are looking for full-time.  We are looking for the below but are willing to train. 

Responsibilities:

  • Enroll, update, terminate employees based on eligibility in online system

  • Preparation of applicable Welfare Benefit plan Form 5500s using 3rd party application

  • Enter/approve claims as necessary

  • Answer customer service email and telephone inquiries

  • Post HSA deposits per client payrolls

  • Flexible benefits (Health FSA, Dependent Care FSA, HRA, HSA) plan creation along with customization of associated forms using 3rd party application

  • Prepare annual document and form updates at open enrollments for all plans

  • Discrimination testing of Section 125 and HRA plans

  • Attend client meetings as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred

  • Relevant experience in benefit plan creation, enrollment, testing, and filing of Form 5500 preferred

  • Background in benefits, health insurance, payroll processing, accounting, or human resources would be most applicable

  • Tennessee licensed in life and health a plus

  • Ability to multitask in a small business environment, manage client relationships, multiple projects and deadlines

  • Detail oriented to follow IRS regulations and details of specific employer plans

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, Outlook, Access

  • Mail merge experience a plus
